ABOUT EVRYTANIA PREFECTURE
Karpenissi is one of the most beautiful cities of Greece and is 1000 m. above sea level. If you go up the hill of Agios Dimitrios you will be confronted with an incredible view of the different villages in the mountains. These villages are worth visiting. You should also see the magnificent old churches you will meet on your way.
Agia Triada is a small village with houses made of stone within a forest of pine trees and chestnut trees. There is a ski resort in Velouhi only 9 km. away from the village. Also visit the library and the museum of folk art.
At the foot of mountain Kaliakouda is another village of exceptional beauty, the Megalo Horio . Here, you should o visit the museum and the library.
Karpenisi is the capital in Evritania's Prefecture and it is 273 kilometers far from Athens. It is founded on the foot of Timphristos Mountain in 960 m. altitude and in a fir-wooded enviroment. The way to Karpenisi is marvellous as the landscape varies from that of the plain-all through Sperchios River-to that of the mountain at Timphristos village. It is one of the ideal vacations-destinations in Greece during the winter and a place where one can sally out for excursions to beautiful locations.
