ABOUT LARISA PREFECTURE
Larisa is biggest in extent prefecture of Thessalia. It is extended by the Olympus as the fringes of Othris and the Aegean. It combines really everything, from verdurous mountains that offers possibilities for wintry vacations and sport, as in the ski center of Olympus, up to extensive sandy beaches in the side of Aegean with clean seas and modern cities with leading the megalopolis Larisa, where the visitor can have fun and develop his time in various sights.
The capital of prefecture, unfolds nonchalantly in the immense plain. It is a big city with effervescent movement and interesting monuments. Tempi are found in the point that Penaeus river is rammed between the narrow openings that leave the Olympus and the Kisavos mountains so it finds his way to the sea, in a magic landscape with rich vegetation from planes and willows. Tirnavos, is built next to the Titarisio, the tributary of Penaeus river. In the entry of city, the athletic centre is a small verdurous oasis. In the central square there are remarkable buildings which are preferable. You should visit the churches of Prophet Ilia , Agios Ioannis, Agia Paraskevi and the Source of Agia Anna .
